A family friend gave me a great idea for baby: make my own book with pictures of the family, one person per page with label. I got a cheap 4x6 photo album from the dollar store (cost me $2 actually). Right now, I have 4 pages:
1. Title page with our family picture with the label "My Family"
2. Baby with his name
3. My picture labeled Mommy
4. Hubby's picture labeled Daddy
It's good because I can also put pictures of my parents with labels: Lolo (grandfather) and Lola (grandmother). That way, he will still get to know my parent's faces and won't be afraid of them when he meets them next (my parents live in the Philippines).
I'm just gathering some pictures of hubby's and my siblings and parents so I can add pages to the book.
Other great suggestions by this friend:
1. Buy glow-in-the-dark stars and spell out baby's name in the ceiling on top of his crib. I'm not sure I'll do this because we plan on selling our house in the next 2 years or so.
2. Make a cd (or I guess mp3) recording of mommy and daddy singing nursery rhymes so that's what he can listen to and the voices sound familiar.
3.Once baby starts crawling, put letters all over the house starting with A. Also put labels of things around the house (i.e. door, table, etc)

Those are really good ideas! I need to remember those if/when I have a child! :)
ReplyDeleteya, hindi ko nga mashado naexplain pero yung glow in the dark stars, she called it sight words.. so the baby sees it everytime he goes to sleep or wakes up so his name becomes very familiar to him.
